Free Online Event for World Suicide Prevention Day 2024
Mind BLMK is hosting a free virtual event for World Suicide Prevention Day 2024 on Wednesday, 11th September 2024 from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm via Teams.
This event will feature a range of expert presentations, providing valuable insights into suicide prevention and mental health support in the local community.
Presenters and Topics Include:
- Public Health: Introducing the new BLMK local suicide prevention action plan (2024-2028), the local suicide prevention network, and the Suicide Prevention Hub, a resource for frontline professionals. (Emma Bates & Elizabeth Bailey)
- Samaritans: Discussing strategies to reduce risk factors in suicide prevention, day and night support 365 days a year, and training programmes to support those struggling to cope. (Robert Labe)
- Chums: Presenting on the Bedfordshire suicide prevention bereavement service, which offers mental health and emotional wellbeing support to children, young people, and their families. (Debbie Robson)
- Mind BLMK: Exploring suicide prevention pathways, bereavement support, and suicide awareness training through the See the Signs programme. They will also discuss the link between domestic abuse and suicide.
- ZSA (Zero Suicide Alliance): Offering training on suicide prevention, as well as highlighting resources such as the Stay Alive App and autism-related mental health support. (Elizabeth Bailey)
