Ghost Stories, playing at MK Theatre this week until Saturday, is a thrilling and visually exciting stage production by Jeremy Dyson and Andy Niman (who have also worked with Derren Brown). Dan Tetzel plays Professor Goodman, who recounts three chilling cases: a night watchman, a young man returning home from a party, and a gentleman awaiting the birth of his child.

The tension builds from the moment the lights go down. The outstanding performances, particularly from Dan Tetzel, David Cardy, Clive Mantle, Eddie Lumar-Elliot, bring the stories to life. While I can't reveal too much to avoid spoilers, the acting is superb and the narrative cleverly crafted. This show is definitely not for the faint of heart; I was on the edge of my seat, especially during the second story.

The set design is brilliant. Each location, from the night watchman's warehouse to a moving car and finally a nursery, is realistically and effectively portrayed. And just when you think the story is over, there's another twist!

From the moment you enter the theatre, the dripping sounds and other sound effects create an immersive and spooky atmosphere. Ghost Stories is well worth seeing this week at MK Theatre. Tickets start from £15 plus booking fee.

The production was last seen in the UK in 2019 when, after a celebrated run at the Lyric Theatre, Hammersmith, the show transferred to the Ambassador’s Theatre for its latest West End Run. It embarked on a partial UK tour in early 2020, but this was cut short by the pandemic.

Dan Tetsell (Rivals, Disney+) will play Professor Goodman, David Cardy (Birds of a Feather, ITV) will play Tony Matthews, Clive Mantle (Casualty, BBC) will play Mike Priddle, Eddie Loodmer-Elliott (Modi: Three Days on the Wing of Madness) will play Simon Rifkind, with Lloyd McDonagh as The Others, Lucas Albion as ensemble and Simon Bass as understudy.

2018 saw the release of the film version of Ghost Stories. Based on their own play, the film was written and directed by Andy & Jeremy Dyson. Andy stars alongside Martin Freeman, Alex Lawther & Paul Whitehouse. The film has been hailed as a ‘Modern Horror Classic’ and was voted number 16 in Empire magazines list ‘The Greatest 25 Horror films ever made’.
