Inspiring conversations at the City Breakfast Club
Milton Keynes business leaders, advocates, and influential community figures recently gathered at the City Breakfast Club to participate in inspiring discussions around leadership, empowerment, and vital health research.
Dr Susan Izadkhasti and Gamiel Yafai from the organisation Women Leaders shared insights into their impactful work supporting women through mentoring programmes, allyship initiatives, and innovative educational events, such as the annual STEM-focused festival, MK Innovates. During their presentation, they also announced plans for the 2025 Women Leaders Awards, highlighting opportunities for local businesses and individuals to recognise and celebrate the achievements of outstanding female leaders across various sectors.
The City Breakfast Club also welcomed Emma Jolly and Aimee Clarke from Brain Tumour Research, who delivered a compelling presentation about the critical importance of increasing awareness and funding for brain tumour research. They explained how, despite being the leading cause of cancer-related deaths among children and adults under 40, brain tumour research currently receives just 1% of the national cancer research budget. Their powerful message underscored the crucial role that local businesses can play in supporting research initiatives that have the potential to save lives.
Liz Newell, Partner at MHA, expertly facilitated the event, creating an engaging atmosphere that encouraged meaningful conversations among attendees. Participants left feeling inspired to take action and collaborate more closely to address these significant community challenges.
For those interested in joining future discussions, the next City Breakfast Club is scheduled for April, promising another valuable opportunity for networking, learning, and community engagement.
