Milton Keynes Community Foundation AGM planned for October

Milton Keynes Community Foundation is inviting you to join them as we celebrate you - the wonderfully vibrant voluntary and community sector groups of Milton Keynes!

🗓️ When: Thursday 3 October 2024, 10am - 1pm

📍 Where: Chrysalis Theatre, Camphill MK, Japonica Lane, Willen Park South, MK15 9JY

Our AGM is looking slightly different this year! We want to really showcase the incredible work of our voluntary and community groups in Milton Keynes. So, we have asked groups to perform throughout our AGM, and our stallholders will be hosting an array of engaging activities for you to dive in and get involved with!

We will also have the opportunity to hear from Maddie Desforges, the CEO of the National Association of Voluntary and Community Action (NAVCA) about her reflections on the power of the VCSE at this time. We will also be hearing from some of the groups we have worked with over the past year and how this has impacted their work!

There will be plentiful opportunities to network and connect with other groups in Milton Keynes and refreshments will be available throughout!

A little bit about how our AGM works…

The Annual General Meeting is the point in the year when we update our members on the work we have been doing over the last year.  We do this by presenting the Charities Annual accounts and Trustees Annual Report.  We also appoint new Trustees and we appoint the Auditors. We currently have a rolling membership from the Voluntary and Community Sector in MK. When you register for the AGM you will be asked to indicate if you are a member or not.  If you are not sure, then we will check our records and let you know.

It is important that we have our members at the AGM because you are there to vote on the matters which we require a decision. For example, voting in Trustees and the Auditors.  We ask for a Proposer and you can raise your hand to act as a proposer. Then we ask for a Seconder and require a different person to raise their hand to act as a seconder. When you register on the day we will remind you if you are a member so you know you can confidently raise your hand and be a proposer or seconder.

About our keynote speaker …

Maddy joined NAVCA in March 2021. As Chief Executive, she is responsible for making sure NAVCA does the right things at the right time, and particularly to listen to and understand member perspectives, and make sure they are reflected in NAVCA’s priorities.  She is also responsible for the internal running of NAVCA, working with trustees to make sure the organisation is robust. Maddy aims to be an influential and persuasive voice at national level, setting out the critical nature of local infrastructure communities to thrive.

‍Before joining NAVCA, Maddy was CEO at Voluntary Action Sheffield, a NAVCA member. Before that, she was a civil servant, holding a range of policy and strategy roles around education and employment. In her spare time, Maddy enjoys escaping to the hills with either a bike or her dog.

We would be thrilled if you could join us for the biggest event of our calendar year! If you have any questions, please get in touch with the email below.
